Geoinformation & databases

Satellite- and airborne remote sensing offers a great deal of geophysical data and methods for monitoring and analysis. Recent developments allow very detailed mapping of vegetation types, of minerals/rocks/soils, of construction material or of enegetic levels (e.g. temperatures, gradients etc) above, at or close below the Earths surface. Remote sensing also provides very detailled topographic information which can be used for gradient analysis and various modelling as for erosion analysis, flood modelling or infrastructure plannings. Contrary to point data acquired in the field, remote sensing supplies areal data for small and large scale analysis of more or less natural as well as man-made landscapes. Among the latter are districts affected by mining, any kind of waste deposition or urban areas.
By help of Geographic Information systems and case related specific software the remote Sensing derived thematic maps, digital elevation and landscape models are further analyzed together with cadastral maps, private maps/sketches and information from databases of various sources.

Dangerous waste, radon, environment

Settlements and industrial parks change and so the usage of areals in the landscape. Not every change is well documented or some earlier use of an estate is even unknown. The handling with dangerous chemicals, which were earlier possibly not known (thus not documented) to cause harm to the health of man and environment, may have contaminated the estate and may bear potential health and financial danger for the usage of the areal.

We investigate the history of the estate or the precise location of installations from company and cadastral data, and aerial image data etc. and we conduct airborne and satellite-borne as well as field and geochemical and geophysical studies using specific modern remote sensing as well as classical geochemical and geophysical field methods.

Risk for the human health may also come from the geogenic, natural radioactivity of rocks and soils. Radon is responsible for about 10% of the dead people which died from lung-cancer. Almost every rock and soil bears radioactive elements in partly considerable amounts. The largest part of natural radioactive contamination of man is due to the gas radon, a decay product of uranium, thorium and radium. Radon may occur in considerable concentrations depending on physical and chemical properties of the rocks and soils. Radon concentration regionally varies on a scale of several orders of magnitude. Radon is the only fluid phase in the decay series and as a gas highly mobile, able to leave soil and enter buildings by diffusion or along cracks through construction materials. Small changes in your daily habits or small investments in accomodated construction considerably reduce your radon risk.

We determine the radon concentration in the soil and existing buildings if you care to know being exposed to high radon concentrations or not.

Microscopy & digital image analysis

Digital analysis of scanned or digitally photographed images of natural surfaces or prepared surfaces up to thin sections enables the computer-aided analysis of components. This comprises the identification and classification of different matter as well as the analysis of particle size and particle shape.

Our services comprise for instance :

-

Digital (and microscopic) data acquisition

-

Digital analysis of the image data regarding distribution, frequency, shape, size of components (particles) as well as textural and structural properties.

Export of image data and classified image data in any preferred image data format for presentation and documentation

-

Export of analyses results in preferred text or spread sheet format.

-

Large amounts of data can also be provided as database.

-

If necessary, assistance with the interpretation of data

-

Short-Report, Support for further reports or publication (e.g. methods text modul, individualized)

Geo-Tourism & landscape marketing

Each townships, each county owns his peculiarities. Rocks, valleys, hills and landscapes developed and cultivated by man tell exciting stories. Make use of the pecularities of the landscape surounding you and your home-town. Enrich the attractivness of your township or region for a fast-growing community of tourists which are interested in environment and landscape history.
Explore and discover with us the significance of "your" landscape. We search the exceptionel for you. We explain the landscape evolution, of individual elements in the landscape, changes in the past and interaction of landscape and man. We concept for you nature trails, illustrated charts, brochures and booklets as well as computer animations by which your guests get plainly but scientific precisely informed.

Sediment- & core spectrometry

All matter absorb, reflect or transmit electromagnetic radiation dependend on the wavelenght. Thus materials can be distinguished respectively identified by their optical and thermal properties. The spectral behaviour, recorded as wavelength-selective reflectance or transmission spectra do also allow the quantification of matter by specific features in the spectra.
This techniques are specifically suitable to record small variations of concentrations especially if it is used for the detection and quantification of fine-grained materials. Contrary to time-consuming classical methods our method allows several thousand samples a day and the measurement in situ on a surface, e.g. a split sediment core. However this method is not limited to core material but can also be used for material testing and quality check.

Our services, or ask for more :

-

Destructionless spectrometric record of drill cores or other material with a spatial resolution on the scale of millimetres or centimetres.

-

Identification of components.

-

Interpretation of the spectral features for quantification including reference analytics.

-

Report and assistance with the interpretation of the data

-

Support with further reporting or publication of data (individualized text modules).
